Intergroups and Regions are service bodies that connect individual ACAD groups to each other and to the wider fellowship, so groups can do together what they can’t easily do alone.
Intergroups
Intergroup Purpose: Supports groups in a city, local area, or virtual community.
Typical functions:

- Maintain a phone line, PO box, and website/message board.
- Help newcomers/members find meetings.
- Publish local meeting lists and announcements.
- Coordinate local services (public information, hospitals/institutions outreach, cooperation with professionals).
- Host workshops, organize fun, social events, and furnish newcomer resources.
- Sell or distribute literature and chips/tokens at cost.
- Provide a clearinghouse for group information and local issues.
Composition: Representatives elected by local groups; may operate a small office with volunteers or paid staff.
Regions
Region Purpose: Links multiple intergroups/districts across a larger geographic area and carries the collective conscience to the national/world service level.
Typical functions:

- Organize region boards and service committees.
- Support trusted servants on boards and committees.
- Coordinate larger-scale public outreach and service projects.
- Facilitate communication between local intergroups and world services.
- Handle matters affecting many locales (e.g., region conventions, policy guidance, sharing best practices).
Composition: Representatives elected by Intergroups; elected officers and committees; may operate a small office with volunteers or paid staff.
